Projects
This section highlights the various professional projects I've completed since starting graduate school in chronological order. Although these projects vary widely in scope, each one taught me something new.
Undergraduate Information Literacy Course
May 2023 - May 2024
The reference librarians at ULM understand the importance of information literacy and have developed a one-credit course for undergraduate students. The course covers a variety of topics, including developing a research question, searching secondary sources, critical thinking and source evaluation, and citing sources. The course is online and asynchronous to allow for students to learn at their own pace.
Pharmacy, Chemistry, and Biology LibGuides

December 2023 - May 2023
ULM received access to the LibGuides platform within the last year. This means our four-person reference team was responsible for creating over 25 guides for the university's four colleges. My responsibilities included adding our databases into our A-Z list and creating the Pharmacy, Chemistry, and Biology LibGuides. You can view the published LibGuides here.
Library Instruction through Drug Information
August - December 2023
As the instructor for P1 Pharmacy students in the ULM College of Pharmacy's Drug Information Retrieval course, I designed scavenger hunts, trivia contests, and group activities. I received positive feedback from students about the fun and effective methods used in class. Preparing course materials further developed my knowledge in health science and pharmacy databases.
Capstone Project with Austin Community College
January - May 2023
My final project I complete in the University of Texas School of Information will be a Professional Experience Project. For my PEP, I am working with Austin Community College Libraries to make a survey that focuses on the technology ownership, use, and needs of their students. To achieve this, I am researching survey best practices, developing survey questions, and analyzing the results with recommended actions. This survey will help inform key stakeholders at ACC on where to best allocate library funds.
Measuring Course Material Usage through Tableau
October - December 2022
In my Data Storytelling course, I learned how to use Tableau by creating several different dashboards. For my final assignment, I worked with UT Libraries to create a dashboard of our course material circulation rates to affect future acquisitions. Due to security reasons I cannot share this dashboard publicly, but I have uploaded some of the best dashboards I created for the course on my Tableau Public profile here.
Publication Impact Research

August 2022
During the summer, I aided a few UT History professors in putting together their promotion packets for tenure. I consulted platforms like Scimago, Web of Science, and Google Scholar to measure how many citations an article, book, or book chapter received. I also evaluated journal impact and nontraditional methods of impact, like social media engagement and interactions on platforms like academia.edu.
Discover UT Orientation Tour
July 2022
During the University of Texas' 2022-2023 orientation, a library tour was offered to students that showed them the Perry-Castañeda Library and directed students to library resources. I gave two of these tours, one virtual and one in-person. Through these tours, I was able to practice my public speaking skills and talk with incoming new students to put a friendly face on the UT Libraries.
Open Source Software Presentation
June 2022
One of my former professors gave me the amazing opportunity of attending the 2022 Tribal College Librarians Institute. At this conference, I learned about tribal college libraries and their unique challenges and opportunities. I was also fortunate enough to give a presentation on open source software I discovered while creating my instruction video. I received positive feedback on my presentation and was pleased to hear that some librarians are considering using the software for their own videos. Click here to view the presentation.
Instruction Video for the Perry-Castañeda Library
March - April 2022
In Library Instruction, we made an instructional video on an academic topic of our choice. My partner and I both worked at the PCL, so we decided to make a video on how to use the new microfilm machines. This video is now displayed at the microfilm station and has helped several people conduct research. Click here to watch the video.
